With the Monaco Yacht Show just around the corner — from 26th-29th September, to be exact — it is time to make sure you know exactly where to go, who to see and which vessels to be stepping on board.
There can sometimes seem too much to get around in one go, so let us give you the inside track on the biggest trends to look out for this year, with a sneak peek at our special yachting forecast, published in full in the September/October issue of Gentleman’s Journal, on shelves now.
There are going to be 125 superyachts on display at this year’s show — 45 of which are brand new — so be sure to get the most of your visit by opting for the Sapphire Experience.
This gives you a bespoke package on your visit that includes “private visits to the show’s most outstanding superyachts, personal invitations to events held by luxury brands, lunch at the show’s official restaurant, luxury courtesy car service and more” says the General Manager of the show, Gaëlle Tallarida.
Eco-Friendly might not be the first tick on every yacht lover’s check-list but it is becoming a priority for many in the industry. You’ll get the chance to see a few green machines at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, as shipyards around the world are starting to build yachts that don’t come at the cost of it.
If you plan on taking your yacht to some of the more extreme environments this world has to offer, you’ll want a watch that can withstand everything the sea can throw at it. Enter the Panerai Submersible Range – any adventurous yachtsman would be foolish to push-off without one of these strapped to their wrist.
Tenders, day boats, chase boats, sports boats and fun boats. They might sound like they do the same job but they have all started to establish themselves as subcategories of tenders that are slightly smaller in size than your normal yacht but with all the fun packed in. Find a full array of these on display at Monaco this year and find out exactly which one you need for your fun filled afternoons on the waves.
If want to label one man as a trendsetter in the yachting world, Luca Bassani would wear that label with pride. The creative genius behind the 120 power boats and 46 sailing yachts that Wally have produced. Bassani has kept ahead of every development and trend in the yacht world with constant research. Anything that floats and has this man’s name attached at this years show we would fully recommend you taking a look at.
While there may have been an assumption for some time that the bigger the yacht the better, this is quickly being turned upside down with many billionaires swapping the 100m+ vessels for smaller, nimbler and fewer crewed craft. Not only can you get into more of the top ports around the world but, with the offering from many shipyards, there is no need to compromise on luxury or comfort.
