With the season of roaring open fires, falling leaves and the staple woolen jumper fast approaching, master shoemakers Crockett & Jones are on hand to give your wardrobe an effortless Autumn update with their chic AW18 collection — The Black Editions.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese design, each of the three styles within the collection features an oversized, ‘cleated’ rubber sole and contemporary black leathers.
A beautifully proportioned boot
We’re particularly fond of the Chelsea XI, a beautifully proportioned boot made with a Black Scotch Grain leather. The shoe has maintained Crockett & Jones’ time-honoured 335 last, but is a departure for the brand in colour and grain.
A classic Blutcher style
Made in Black Cavalry Calf, Lanark III takes the classic Blutcher style and uses a pattern which dates back to the origins of this footwear icon. In this chunkier version, the shoe has been designed on the newly remodelled 378 last and features a blind seam facing.
A statement seasonal investment
The Tay II, meanwhile, is a statement seasonal investment. Made in Black Rough-out Suede, these shoes are a lightweight yet chunky Double Monk style built in the world-renowned 325 la — a stylish, fashion-forward choice for those wanting to make a bolder impression.
The cleated sole provides the signature to The Black Editions collection, and whilst being oversized, is surprisingly lightweight. The effect is to draw the eye subtly down to your footwear, while the all-black styling maintains the necessary understatement to carry the shoes across most dress codes.
