Christopher Nolan’s war epic may be looking back, but it’s fashion forward
Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster, World War 2 epic Dunkirk, is full of jumpers. From Tom Hardy’s Royal Air Force pilot to Mark Rylance’s mariner, you’d be hard-pushed to ignore the knitwear despite the film’s action scenes dramatising the evacuation.
But chief amongst the pullovers and sweaters is the fisherman’s jumper. Worn by everyone from Kenneth Branagh’s high-ranking Commander Bolton to Tom Glynn-Carney’s deck-hand, these roll-necked, ribbed and often cable-knit creations take centre stage in the costume department.
