It’s been a big week for celebrity collaborations. Sir Paul Smith has launched a new camera with Leica, Andy Murray’s latest sports kit has been revealed by Castore and Pharrell Williams’ Richard Mille timepiece has ticked its way onto the scene.
But there are other notable new products, too — from Aston Martin’s first SUV to Pantherella’s first foray into the wider world of woollen accessories. Take a look below.
Off-road opulence: Aston Martin DBX
Ah, Aston. We’ve been expecting you. Since Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce all rumbled onto the SUV scene, it was only a matter of time before Britain’s sleekest automaker followed in their tyre tracks. This, the DBX, is Aston’s off-road offering; a lightweight aluminium-constructed car with a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds and the British brand’s signature grill. We can’t wait to put it through its petrol-powered paces.
One small strap: Richard Mille RM 52-05 Tourbillon
In collaboration with Pharrell Williams, Richard Mille has allowed the hitmaker to explore his second passion: astrophysics. It may sound unlikely, but William’s interest in the cosmos is clear by the dial of this new timepiece. On the dial, a helmeted astronaut surveys a Martian landscape; a design realised by handcrafting titanium, white diamonds, black sapphires, and gold. It’s out of this world.
Button it: Favourbrook Dark-Green Nehru Velvet Jacket
We know what you’re thinking; there’s a touch of ‘Orient Express’ about this jacket from Favourbrook. And you’d be right. But that vintage allure is part of its retro charm; woven into its cotton-velvet construction and trimmed with a traditional Nehru collar. Just last week, we featured another of Sir Paul Smith’s intoxicating collaborations; namely, a team-up with the gin experts at Sipsmith. This week, he’s turned his lens on the good people of Leica — and released a singular take on the 24-megapixel APS-C shooter. Among the Smith touches are the designer’s signature stripe, a neon rope strap and a sketch of an eye above the viewfinder — from the pen of Sir Paul himself.
Good sport: Castore Brisbane Zip Polo
Our pick of Castore’s new collaboration with Andy Murray, this Brisbane Zip Polo may be designed with modern materials, laser cut ventilation holes and a specialist length bonded zip collar — but it also has a touch of the retro sportsman about it.
