Editor’s Picks: Flying Car, Hasselblad Camera and Rosé Champagne
From the latest fitness kit from Hydrow to a luxurious leather bomber jacket from Loro Piana, this is what we want this week…
In this week’s Editor’s Picks, we’re taking to both the sea and the sky. On the ocean-going side, we’re upping anchor with Princess, and the British brand’s new ‘Y80’ yacht — while also whipping our rowing skills into shape with Hydrow’s latest workout machine.
In the air, it’s take-off for Skyfly’s pioneering personal aircraft, the ‘Axe’. We’re also taking flight with fighter jet fashion inspiration from Loro Piana and learning how KTM fitted an airplane cockpit’s canopy to its new roadster. Take a look below…
Engine room: Hydrow Wave Rowing Machine
30% lighter and £600 more affordable than Hydrow’s original rower, the latest muscle-building, stamina-boosting release from the Massachusetts-based brand makes it easier than ever to work out in the comfort of your own home. With electromagnetic braking, high-quality polyester webbing and whisper-quiet operation, it’s a flawless fitness solution.

Page-turner: Royal Oak: From Iconoclast to Icon Book
Audemars Piguet knows a thing or two about luxury. But the brand’s latest luxurious release isn’t wrist-mounted. Rather, it’s a collaboration with publishing house Assouline; a colossal coffee table book celebrating the watchmaker’s fiercely-revered, utterly-recognisable Royal Oak design on its 50th anniversary.
Zip it: Loro Piana ‘Kent’ Bomber Jacket
Every year, the classic bomber proves itself a September style saviour. This calfskin suede design from Loro Piana adds a touch of lightly-padded luxury to the proceedings, with cashmere detailing, saddle-stitched trim and kümmel-coloured cotton lining.

Top gun: KTM X-Bow GT-XR
While the Austrian marque may best be known for creating incredible off-road motorcycles, its latest project sets those signature angular looks and envy-inducing engineering onto four wheels. The ‘X-Bow GT-XR’ is a jet fighter for the road; with a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine, 486 horsepower and a weight of just 1,250 kilograms. This thing will move.
Point and shoot: Hasselblad X2D 100C Camera
With its incredible 100-megapixel credentials, Hasselblad’s latest camera is the brand’s best ever. It’s been stripped of any video capabilities whatsoever, but the in-body image stabilisation, high-resolution viewfinder and tilting touchscreen add an ergonomic edge to an already stellar set-up.
Slip-on: Scarosso ‘James’ Loafers in Suede
What better way to step out of summer? Stitched from tobacco-toned suede, these flexible driving loafers stand on black rubber-studded soles that guarantee grip when you’re driving. Hand-finished with knotted detailing, they’re a must-have for any road-tripping getaways this autumn.

In a bubble: Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Champagne Bamboo Robe Edition
Each year, Laurent-Perrier enrobes its celebrated ‘Cuvée Rosé’ bottle in a sumptuous, limited edition case. The latest design (the fifth to grace the fizz) bears a bamboo motif to symbolise the label’s commitment to natural causes. And, to back up that branding, £1 from the sale of each bottle will be donated to charity Plantlife.

Set sail: Princess Y80 Yacht
All-new from the British boat maker, the innovatively-designed ‘Y80’ brings a whole new dimension to al fresco entertaining. Measuring just over 25 metres, the latest launch from the brand features a flybridge with relaxed seating and dining areas combined with a fully equipped wetbar.
Take off: Skyfly ‘Axe’ Aircraft
Now taking pre-orders, this British-built airborne innovation is the work of Skyfly, a London-based start-up that wants to make personal air travel as easy as driving a car. Featuring a wingspan of over 16 feet, it can take off vertically, has a cruising speed of 100 mph and can carry a payload of 172 kilograms.

Turn it up: Loewe ‘Klang S3’ Smart Radio
There’s not much the ‘Klang S3’ from Loewe (not the fashion brand) can’t do. With Spotify connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, Bluetooth and a DAB radio neatly machined into its slick aluminium body — as well as a CD player — this is a smart bit of kit. We particularly like those profiled buttons and that illuminated rotary control.
