We’re feeling the cold here at Gentleman’s Journal. So much so, in fact, that this week’s Editor’s Picks features not one, not two, but three different coats. There’s a tactical Scandi option, a stripped-back British jacket and even a traditional throwback teddy coat just waiting to be bundled-up. So let’s all zip our zippers, button our buttons and take our minds off the cold snap with a good old scroll through the best products of the week…
Zip it: Serac T2 Hydrid Coat
Here’s jacket no.1. An instant modern classic, the T2 coat from Scandi chic brand Serac walks the fine line between fashion and function. It’s got a complex construction, articulated athletic fit and the waxed cotton outer is stuffed to the zippers with Primaloft Gold Down Blend (that’s one of the best blends, don’t you know). Our favourite touch is that huge, furry collar — something to get lost in on any particularly grim days.
Ahead of the pack: Lululemon Early Embark Backpack
From early-morning flights to late-night train trips, this tactical backpack is our new favourite travelling companion. It’s got easy access pockets, a padded laptop sleeve and even a water bottle pocket. But the most surprising thing? This contemporary piece of carry-on is created by Lululemon — them of the skin-tight workout leggings. If we have one suggestion to make this backpack even better, it would be for Lululemon to come up with a better colour name than ‘Stratospheric Carbon Dust’. Eesh.
Wheels in motion: Segway Apex Electric Motorcycle
Do you remember the Segway? That deeply uncool, two-wheeled laughing stock of the personal transport world? Well the brand’s back — and no-one’s going to be laughing when you roll in on its new Apex Electric Motorcycle. Sleek, chic and recently announced at CES 2020, it may not be in production just yet, but you can guarantee that we’ll be the first to strap on our helmets when it hits the roads.
Soft touch: Motoluxe Chocolate Teddy Bear Coat
Over the years, Motoluxe’s Teddy Bear coat has softly shuffled its way to icon status. Britons from Winston Churchill to Mick Jagger have rocked the furry double-breasted coat, but it was first produced at the dawn of the automotive age to keep winter motorists warm, dry and comfortable. Crafted from ethically-sourced deep pile Alpaca wool, it has eight buttons, a tie belt, welted pockets and deep reserves of cool.

Döttling makes hard-wearing, super-secure, very German safes. They’re dependable, meticulously made and thoroughly reliable. So when we heard that the craftsmen were turning their talented hands to watch winders, we couldn’t wait to see what they came up with. The Gyrowinder didn’t disappoint. With four rings and sets of counterweights, the distinctly designed winder is soon to be the centrepiece of our watch care collection.
Waxing lyrical: Barbour Bunt Waxed Jacket
Speaking of Bond, we all know how the superspy wears his penchant for a Barbour jacket on his waxed sleeve. And the British brand’s latest launch — the Bunt — is sure to catch his eye. Inspired by Barbour’s maritime heritage, and cut to a tailored fit, this shorter-length jacket will keep you warm through winter. But it also works as a transitional layering piece for spring. And, if that weren’t enough, it’s even got a nifty stowaway hood hidden under that needlecord collar.

When we heard that Dubai-based supercar brand Jannarelly was creating a series of UK Editions to mark its debut in British markets, we were wary. We didn’t want splashy Union Flags or gaudy red, white and blue colour schemes rolling onto our roads. Thankfully, the cars are remarkably restrained; 1960s-flavoured racers with a nod to our flag, a touch of tradition and a 0-60 mph speed of under four seconds.
