The old ways are the best. Just look at this week’s Editor’s Picks. The two cars we’ve driven onto our latest wishlist — a 1993 Overfinch Range Rover and a limited-edition Ferrari coupé — are both based on timeless, time-honoured motors.
The whisky we’re drinking this week, Glen Scotia’s ‘Victoriana’, takes its cues from classic Campbeltown single malts. And Vallon’s retro-styled goggles look back into the après-ski archives for inspiration. So hark back, scroll down and enjoy the best vintage-tinged products on offer this week…
Sound it out: Wrensilva ‘Loft’ Record Player
This slick, sophisticated bit of audio kit is a treat for the senses. Not only does its walnut and ebony design look the part, the ‘Pro-ject’ aluminium tonearm is also incredibly tactile to the touch. And, thanks to a 100 watts per channel amplifier, Bang & Olufsen hardware and state-of-the-art SONOS functionality, it also sounds like no other record player.
New tricks: Glen Scotia Victoriana Single Malt Whisky
Inspired by Victorian times, Glen Scotia’s Victoriana is a classic Campbeltown whisky. Cask-strength and exceptionally mature, it has a dark, rich nose with caramelised creme brûlée notes — and tastes both jammy and chocolatey on the palate. An evocation of whiskies past, it’s a worthy addition to any aficionado’s drinks cabinet.
Shifting gears: Ferrari BR20 Coupé
Based on the GTC4Lusso platform, Ferrari’s latest limited-edition is the one-off BR20. It’s a handsome thing; a two-seat coupé with a V12 engine and a slightly increased cabin area. But, like the Glen Scotia whisky above, it takes inspiration from the past — with styling cues borrowed from the Italian carmaker’s 410 SA and 500 Superfast.
