Last night, the great and the good descended on the Original Annabel’s for a black tie dinner to celebrate Vacheron Constantin’s Fiftysix collection — elegant watches inspired by an iconic model from 1956.
In partnership with Gentleman’s Journal, the event began with Louis Roederer Champange and wines from Berry Bros & Rudd — as guests from racing driver Max Chilton to model Richard Biedul took in the surroundings of the iconic nightclub at 44 Berkeley Square.
Annabel’s and Christie’s will hold a landmark auction in three weeks’ time, with over 250 lots going under the hammer in-situ at this very venue. It was a suitably artistic spot to hold the dinner, where guests discussed and appreciated Vacheron Constantin’s latest offerings.
Soon, guests sat down to dinner, with a starter of grilled poached lobster, and mains including black treacle marinated fillet of beef and champagne and truffle risotto. For a suitably decadent dessert, diners enjoyed a hazelnut and chocolate offering, adorned with gold leaf and a banana sorbet.
Vacheron Constantin’s Fiftysix collection boasts seven timepieces, and expresses its cosmopolitan style through the contrast between the classic dial and the daring case, inspired by the Maltese cross-shaped emblem of the Maison.
Also in attendance was ballet dancer Eric Underwood, auctioneer Henry Highley, models Paul Sculfor and Sam Webb, the Marquis of Blandford and Gentleman’s Journal contributor Oli Cheshire.
