Henry Poole x Adidas unveil the latest Savile Row sneakers
The tailors meet the trackmasters in this latest collaboration
When Patrick Reinhardt, the Global Senior Product Manager for Adidas, was being fitted for a tailored Henry Poole suit – in Churchill’s favoured grey chalk stripe, if you were wondering – he had an idea. Why not pair up with one of Savile Row’s finest to create the ultimate pair of dress sneakers.
Which brings us to today. Earlier this week, the Evening NMD XRI sneaker was launched, alongside a day sneaker crafted from Reinhardt’s favoured pinstripe. Designed in the classic style of an Eighties sneaker, the grey is certainly striking – picked out even further by the claret accents on the upper.
But our pick of the new pairs can be found in a midnight blue ‘Tuxedo’ hue, and feature a number of bespoke touches, from the selvedge hidden in the heel loop to the trademark Cundey Weave red lining that’s usually found in Henry Poole’s suits linings and ties. Even the grosgrain silk-detailed cage on this ‘Tuxedo’ model was designed to emulate the corded lapel of the brand’s signature dinner jacket.
The ‘Evening Sneakers’ obviously come meticulously packaged, with a garment bag, finely crafted wooden box and limited edition zine elevating them considerably above the normal trainer purchase. Launching exclusively at size? stores around the country, they’ll retail at £150 and are available in sizes 6 – 12: just the thing for casual men who harbour sartorial inclinations…
