How do you pick an Apple? It’s less a leafy question than a thorny one. Because, with the tech brand boasting a whole orchard of options for tech-heads to consider, it can be difficult to choose just one. Should you upgrade your earphones? Invest in a smart speaker? Switch to Apple TV?
Fortunately, with the festive season on the horizon, there’s a chance for us all to have a bite of the proverbial. For fitness fanatics: Apple Watch Series 7
Does any brand have more technological tricks up its sleeves than Apple? We’d wager not. And, with the reveal of the Apple Watch back in 2015, one of those tricks came out from under the cuff to make waves in the world of watchmaking. Last month, the brand announced Series 7 of the wearable gadget — and it’ll make the perfect present for any fitness fanatics in your life.
The display has been re-engineered; an Always-On Retina screen with more area and less bulk. It’s just 1.7mm thin, and charges 33 percent quicker than previous models. The WR50 water resistance make it the perfect fitness tracker for swimmers, the crack-resistant front crystal give it the hardiness extreme sportsmen require and the Apple Watch Nike Edition adds a ‘Sport Loop’ strap to the wellness-boosting benefits of an ECG app and Blood Oxygen sensor.
For men-about-town: 3rd Generation AirPods
October also saw Apple tune up and sound out a new generation of AirPods. Already the most popular, best-selling headphones in the world, the tech titan has once again paired incredible sound with an ergonomic one-tap setup experience to deliver a pair of lightweight, practical earbuds for daily use. Looking for gifts for men-about-town? Look no further.
So what’s new? By combining the power of the H1 chip with an Apple-designed acoustic system, the new AirPods use computational audio to deliver breakthrough sound with Adaptive EQ. They’re also resistant to sweat and water, have an extended battery life of six hour and feature something called ‘AAC-ELD’ — a superior speech codec that boosts voice quality, and provides clearer, more natural sound on FaceTime calls.
For forgetful friends and family: AirTags
When Apple launched its affordable new AirTag earlier this year, we were bowled over by its mind-boggling multi-functionality. Small, sophisticated and inconceivably compact, these elegantly designed accessories offer salvation to the scatterbrained; and are the ideal way to help your nearest and dearest keep track of the items that matter to them most.
Each round tag — crafted from precision-etched, polished stainless steel — is both water and dust-resistant. Thankfully, Apple have come colourfully to the rescue — introducing a rainbow of intelligent HomePod minis to keep us all connected, even when we’re working apart.
And they’re quite the bits of kit. At just over 3-inches tall, these small speakers pack a serious punch — and come with the intelligence of Siri already installed. There’s a tinted touch surface to upgrade any home office’s style credentials, and its seamless integration across the entire Apple product range means users can control everything from smart devices to home security the comfort of their desk chairs.
For music enthusiasts: AirPods Max
There’s something chicly space-age about Apple’s over-ear headphones. Supersizing the tech and style of the brand’s compact earbuds, the AirPods Max are the perfect present to pick up this festive season — and gift to any music enthusiasts in your friends or family circles.
