Introducing: Deus Ex Machina Hondo Grattan

Deus Ex Machina make some of the best looking motorcycles on the market, fact. Their Grievous Angel machine is damn near perfect with its retro looks, exposed frame and face-wrenching performance. This, the Hondo Grattan is their latest model though and it takes things in a slightly new direction.

First things first; the Hondo Grattan is built on a Ducati Scrambler, so you know it’s going to be good. Built from the ground up, the new Scrambler is a modern reinterpretation of the Italian marque’s bike of the same name from the ‘60s and ‘70s, which itself was a mammoth hit. The new bike is set to be just as popular, offering all the thrills of a Ducati V-twin but in a smaller, more affordable package. It is perhaps the perfect base for a Deus Ex Machina motorcycle.

Deus Ex Machina have transformed the look of the bike, giving it a much more aggressive, harder edge. Constructed entirely of aluminium, the bodywork is lightweight and angular for a contemporary finish that contrasts with the classic styling of the Scrambler.

In ways, the Hondo Grattan is a minimalist take on a speedway bike, with its single-piece tail and letterbox headlight. The up-sweeping exhaust furthers the sporty feel as do the Brembo disk brakes. The striking colour scheme of yellow and bright blue may not be for everyone, although it won’t fail to turn heads on the street.
