Located within a secret valley on the edge of the Cotswolds, and enclosed by luscious woodland and greenery, this sleek country house by London-based design company Found Associates provides the perfect rural respite from the bustle of England’s more urban destinations.
What was originally a Grade II listed gamekeeper’s cottage (but is now a RIBA National Award winner) has been restored, revamped and refreshed for the 21st century, and today boasts a trio of single-storey, inter-connected pavilions which feature bedrooms on one side, a living space on the other and a linking zone in the centre.
The minimalistic interior – from its palette of whites and stonewashed tones to the sweeping glass panels which allow light to flood in – also gives the house a natural vibrancy, while the green roof over the pavilions is designed to help the structure blend in seamlessly into its surrounding landscape. The result? A stripped-back (yet worldly) escape which proves that a minimalistic approach to design can often make the biggest impact.
