With the mornings a little tougher to face, and the evenings already pitch-black as we depart the office, it’s once again that time of year when the cashmere, down coats and bulky boots are folded back into the wardrobe. With this in mind, and following on from its beautifully crafted range of trousers for transitional seasons, The Five-pockets, MR MARVIS has released a new collection that’s tuned for the frosty season ahead: The Heavy Classics.

The material and colours
These elevated basics, which are ‘designed to bring comfort and style to colder months,’ are produced from cavalry twill, a 100 per cent organic cotton that has a hardy feel to it and is appreciated for its durable quality. In terms of fit, there is a loose yet tapered silhouette, a feature that’s influenced by the label’s summery The Classic Chinos collection. A shorter inseam also helps create a contemporary and slightly cropped look.
There are eight colourways, meanwhile, and options range from the dark (we quite like the black-blue Deeps) to the light (the Gazettes, done out in beige, and the grey-brown Sherlocks included), as well as rich hues, such as the Reserves (burgundy).
The detailing
Intended to be worn on a daily basis, The Heavy Classics, like other creations in the MR MARVIS portfolio, are kitted out with subtle, considered details. The extended-tab waistband, for instance, has a partially elasticated section, something that dials up the comfort as the hours of wear pass by. Front pleats provide a dressed-up feel, and the closure (zip fly with a jigger button and hook-and-bar fastener) is discreet. And, of course, the venture’s signature hidden zip pocket is set within one of the slanted side pockets.

To create a look that’s ready to battle the breeze, pair The Heavy Classics with The Wool Pullover, a ‘wear-everywhere’ mid-weight knit that has a relaxed fit. When you need to change things up, consider The Merino Zip Pullover, which is finished with ribbed cuffs and hem.
