So far, the Nosferatu press tour is a roadshow of excellent suits (and more)

The boys in the film are ramping up for the pyscho-thriller's Christmas Day release

While most people are winding down for Christmas, getting in their gifting and food shops for the big day, the likes of Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Bill Skarsgård are on an end of year run to push out their latest film, Nosferatu, which also lands on 25th December. Pegged to be one of the year's biggest releases, the film, directed by Robert Eggers, is a remake of the 1922 film of the same name, and a retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

And, like with all big blockbusters, the cast comprising those aforementioned three actors and their associates Emma Corrin, Lily Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe, have kickstarted a very big press tour to promote the film. First up was Berlin, the techno land of dark clubs and late nights and quite a fitting entry point to the press tour for a film about Dracula's antics. And it was there that we realised that this is set to be a mega tour full of really nice (albeit very dark) outfits.

And, in keeping with the gothic drama, it was an all-black affair for the city that actually never sleeps. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who assumes the role of a vampire catcher in the flick, suited up in a grey, pinstriped Giorgio Armani two-piece, under which he wore a weather-appropriate roll neck knit. An Omega timepeiece flashed on his wrist. Nicholas Hoult, who plays the hard-done-by Thomas Hutter in the film, slipped into a shawl collared black wool and mohair coat, with black trousers and a pair of Derbies, all from Dior. It was the typically nonchalant outfit we've come to love from Hoult - it was louche in design, falling loose in all the right places, and he went tieless with his black silk blend shirt. Meanwhile, Skarsgård who takes on the lead role of antagonist Count Orlok, aka Dracula himself, wore a boxy black suit, with a simple white T-shirt underneath.

The following day, the roadshow took off and arrived in London, where it was more of the same (if not better) gothic garb. Down in Leicester Square Skarsgård, with help from stylist Harry Lambert, was one of the first famous guys to wear the sublime Autumn/Winter '24 Saint Laurent suits that Anthony Vaccarello used to dispel any claims that tailoring was dead earlier this year. Big, oversized, doubled-breasted and in keeping with the way that Yves Saint Laurent himself dressed, it's the suit of the year. Villainous in an American Psycho sort of way. "It was my first time working with Bill," Lambert told us post premiere. "The subtle silhouette gave a nod to the film, it felt formal and the elongated blazer felt fresh, but classic. It looked so beautiful on Bill and felt really in keeping with the mood and energy of the movie."

Next to him Nicholas Hoult - who also impressed with his Bottega Veneta suiting and leather ties on the recent Juror #2 press tour - went a little lighter, this time wearing a grey, cosy-looking suit. It was slightly oversized, had a vintage feel to it as though it could have been taken from set, and he, like Skarsgård, went old school and knotted up (oh to be in that pre-red carpet Whatsapp chat!). On his wrist was a Jaeger Lecoultre watch - he's a long term brand ambassador.

Willem Dafoe wore all black with a zip-up knit and a menacing neckline. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Eggers, the guy behind the entire movie, paired up with the actors and wore a black suit and roll neck. Even David White, the acclaimed make up artist for Nosferatu, followed suit in dark tailoring and scarf.

We've become accustomed to seeing actors (see the casts of Wicked, Barbie, Dune) cosplaying as their characters on the red carpet, which can get a little tedious. But here - and throw in the female cast members Emma Corrin (in floaty McQueen that had all the drama of a period movie) and Lily Rose-Depp too - you've got a cast that are playing into the dark and gothic tones of the film, without actually dressing like they want to take a chunk out of your neck.
