Hollywood stars, from Margot Robbie to Robert Downey Jr, gathered on Sunday evening to honour the very best in cinema, at a ceremony led by late-night veteran and four-time Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel. For those unable to watch live, the most talked-about moment of the night came when John Cena took to the stage totally nude in a streaking skit gone awry with Kimmel.
Oppenheimer was the big winner, of course, scooping seven awards including Best Picture, and Best Actor, for Cillian Murphy. Emma Stone was awarded Best Actress, for her role in Poor Things, and Barbie – last year's highest-grossing film – won just one gong. But, for the horology fanatics, the real highlights were the watches on show. With this in mind, here are six of my favourites from the evening…

Bradley Cooper sported a black double-breasted jacket with flared trousers, as well as a one-of-one rose-gold Louis Vuitton Tambour, complete with brown dial. Cooper, as many of you may know, is an LV ambassador, and the design he sported last night has taken the watch world by storm lately. Versatile and handsome, it's well proportioned at 40mm.

Matthew McConaughey wore a Jacob & Co's Jean Bugatti – a watch you don't see all too often. Though it isn’t a brand for everyone, from an aesthetic perspective, you have to admire its boldness. This model is limited to 57 pieces and is priced at $280,000, so it’s certainly one for a special occasion.

On a more classic note, British actor Callum Turner was spotted wearing an IWC Portofino Automatic (ref. IW356502) – the restrained and elegant lines were spot on for the man who is currently a rising star of the silver screen.

Oh, and talking of IWC, the watch of the show – for me, anyway – was worn by Sterling K. Brown, who rocked a Portugieser Regulateur Tourbillon (ref. IW544603). Very few even know what a Regulateur is, let alone have the conviction to wear one. Well played, sir.

And let’s finish with a TAG Heuer duo. Brand face Ryan Gosling wore the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d’Avant-Garde in pink throughout the night, from the red carpet to his performance of ‘I’m Just Ken’. It features a sleek 36mm white-gold case and lab-grown diamonds.

Finally, Glen Powell capped things off nicely by donning a TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph, a modern classic showcasing a bold black dial with a sunray-brushed finish.
