Silver Fast: The €80,000,000 superyacht

I don’t watch football. Not only would I rather watch paint dry, I’d rather take that wet wall out to supper, buy it three courses and then walk it home. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is I hate most about it – probably because I don’t have enough hands – but the domineering factors are the players’ inability to withstand pain that most ants would shrug off, the complete lack of respect for the referee and, above all, their plutocratic, insanely-large, unwarranted pay packets. 200k a week for fluffing a free kick, digging your incisors into someone’s shoulder or providing the Daily Mail with another adulterous lovechild story…. Sounds easy enough.

No wonder, then, that rowdy exhaust pipes spitting flames through the City, being fired from 4x4s with grilles the size of cattle grids, can more often than not be attributed to those who sport the emblems of Arsenal, Chelsea or Tottenham. They’re flashy and ostentatious, and why wouldn’t you be if you were raking in more money each day than most people earn over the course of a whole year?

Understandably, not everyone wants to be associated with this tarnished band and so cars and toys affiliated with these gaudy sportsmen are often avoided at all costs by the super-rich. And, perhaps, the super-rich – those with a high seat on Forbes’ billionaire list – want to show that they’re another level – 200k is what they make in a couple of minutes, without having to learn the logistics of the offside rule.

For these men and women, the sky’s the limit; separating themselves from the football fraternity comes by looking to the top end of the market, where the length of 00000000000000s blend into a hypnotic matrix. Cue the Silver Fast, as with a bank-bending price tag of €80,000,000, this superyacht is a stretch too far for your everyday swashbuckler in studded boots. This is a toy for the mega-rich. I mean, just look at it.

Designed by Espen Oeino, at 77m she is the world’s largest and fastest aluminium motor yacht with conventional propulsion, capable of speeds in excess of 27 knots. Her shallow draft of just 2.6m is ideally suited to cruising in areas that many yachts of this size cannot access.

Her interior layout comprises of owner’s suite with lounge and large private deck, three double VIP guest cabins, one double guest cabin and three further twin cabins. The sun deck features an outdoor cinema and a glass-fronted 8-person Jacuzzi, and her expansive beach club is complete with entertainment equipment, full spa area including sauna, steam room, gym, massage room and beauty salon. Oh, and of course there’s a helipad.
