We’re pushed to work harder, travel further and negotiate harder than ever before — but we’re also being constantly tempted to relax with exciting and expensive new luxuries. It can often seem impossible to juggle the two. But we’ve found a way. If you’re looking to keep your professional and playful lives both on course, there are few wiser investments to steady the boat than this avant-garde, full-aluminium yacht.
That’s right. The new GTT 160 from Dynamiq has not only reinvented the 50-metre class, but it is also the perfect yacht for a continent-hopping businessman, or a globe-trotting CEO. At once a bolthole and business base, its seemingly endless amenities offer the best of both worlds — from a handy helipad if you need to summon your associates; to an upper deck cinema lounge to entertain them once the work day is done.
And that’s not all. That touch-and-go helipad platform may be a godsend for emergency business trips, but the GTT 160 as a whole also moves at a mean clip. Dutch hydrodynamic specialist Van Oossanen Naval Architects worked closely with Dynamiq to design the fast displacement hull, not to mention an aft hull vane foil for extra lift — a touch that decreases drag and improves fuel efficiency.
That means that the yacht can achieve a top speed of 17 knots, has a range of 4,000 miles at 10 knots and can cross the Atlantic at 14 knots — should you need to nip across to New York for a last minute meeting. And, if you’re really in a hurry, the S version will offer a more powerful pair of V12 engines for a top speed of 23 knots. They’re very impressive figures.
But what else would you expect from a yacht that looks like this? The sleek styling makes the GTT 160 look as if it’s tearing along even when it’s sitting quietly at dock. That’s the racy, contemporary work of Dobroserdov Design — which also worked on the grand vessel’s interior.
And what an interior it is. The GTT 160 offers luxurious accommodation for up to 12 guests in six cabins — and has additional crew quarters for eight staff. The master stateroom, particularly, is a sight to behold; sitting in pride of place on the main deck and featuring two large fixed side balconies.
Elsewhere, there’s a vast galley with a breakfast bar designed to be used by a professional chef. That aforementioned upper deck cinema lounge has a 75-inch screen, and a bar area to keep you in cocktails through even the lengthiest blockbuster. There’s a sun deck with second helm position, a huge 120 square metre beach club and hot tub with room for 12. Add to that a sauna, hammam and convertible gymnasium and you’ve got a list of features that would be impressive for a vessel twice the size of the GTT 160.
“The idea was to create the most attractive proposal for a superyacht of just under 50 metres,” explains Dynamiq founder and CEO, Sergei Dobroserdov, pictured above. “There are so many 50-metre yachts below 500GT available, but they all look very similar with pretty much the same functionality.
“So we asked ourselves,” he continues, “’What can we bring to the market that makes more sense for clients?’ The answer was to focus on modern owners’ priorities and leave the less important things aside. So, we decided to design the GTT 160 with the accent on key factors: well-being, efficiency and price.”
In other words, the main concerns of the modern man. And, with the perfect blend of business and relaxation elements, we’d be hard-pushed to name another yacht this conducive to the pace of professional life.
