You’re invited to the Gentleman’s Journal Entrepreneur Talks with Martell Blue Swift
The inaugural event, in conversation with some of the brightest young minds in business, is open to Clubhouse members. But move quickly – spaces are limited!
Have you got big ideas, big dreams, an entrepreneurial itch to scratch and a Gentleman’s Journal Clubhouse membership? Then we’d like to introduce you to the Gentleman’s Journal Entrepreneur Talks, part of our podcast series in association with Martell Blue Swift.
This new series of exclusive events will delve into the beating heart of successful businesses, with panel discussions with the likes of start-up founders and seasoned CEOs from right here in London to around the world.
On Monday 10th December, the inaugural talk – The Early Stages Of Entrepreneurship – will be taking place at The Conduit in Mayfair. Gentleman’s Journal Editor Joseph Bullmore will host a panel of wildly talented, young entrepreneurs for an evening of conversation, drinks and networking.
Gentleman’s Journal Editor Joseph Bullmore
We’ll be hearing from the kind of gentlemen who make luxury clothing out of factory off-cuts and advanced biofuels out of waste coffee grounds. The kind of men who don’t just make successful businesses, but sustainable ones. And hey, if they’re choosing to spend the evening in a Mayfair bar with us, they’re also the kind of gentlemen who aren’t so stuck in the office they can’t enjoy the odd Sazerac or two on a night off.
On the subject of Sazeracs, these will be one of the Martell Blue Swift Cocktails you’ll be sipping on the night. This new and unique spirit is itself an innovation from the world’s oldest major Cognac House – made from VSOP Cognac, matured in French Oak casks and finished in Kentucky Bourbon barrels. Its delicate aromas of candied fruit and alluring hint of vanilla make it the ideal ingredient for warming cocktails on a November night.
Of course, all of this wouldn’t be complete without a wonderful audience. We’re releasing a number of exclusive tickets via an online ballot to members of the Gentleman’s Journal Clubhouse. If you’re a member, you can register your interest below. Just have your Clubhouse number ready, which you can find on your exclusive Clubhouse Membership card. If you’re not a member, well, what are you waiting for? Sign-up here.
But first, here’s a little more about our panel…
Arthur Kay – Founder of Bio-Bean
That’s actually a bit of an understatement. This award-winning entrepreneur isn’t just the Founder and Deputy Chairman of bio-bean – a green energy company that recycles waste coffee grounds into eco-friendly biofuels. He’s also the founder and CEO of SKYROOM, an urban development company, as well as Fast Forward 2030, a network for entrepreneurs and businesses striving to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. How does he do it? We’ll endeavour to find out.
Henry Hales - Founder of Sir Plus
Sir Plus is a menswear label like no other – taking surplus fabric from high-end factories and tailors and turning them in contemporary, luxe garments that are as stylish as they are sustainable. It’s a pretty good idea, right? That’s why we’ll be hearing from founder Henry Hales, who took the London brand from selling boxers on Portobello Market to launching stores and pop-ups from Piccadilly to Paris.
Archie Hewlett – Founder of Duke + Dexter
What were you doing when you were 18 years old? Actually, hold that thought. In 2014, Archie Hewlett founded premium footwear brand Duke + Dexter at that most tender age and, since then, his luxury slippers, loafers and Chelsea boots have set foot in over 100 countries – including on the Oscars red carpet. That’s right, do the maths, he’s not even 25 years old. We’ll find out how a loan from his parents and a passion for slippers helped him launch one of the most exciting footwear brands around today.
Dan Scott – Co-Founder of Airsorted
Founded in London in 2015 by James Jenkins-Yates, and co-founded by Dan Scott and Tom Jones, Airsorted’s focus is simple: to make renting a room or property as simple as possible. They take 15% commission to manage rentals on behalf of the owners, from creating a listing to communicating with guests and, for an additional fee, will also provide maintenance and cleaning services. In just under four short years, Airsorted has already generated over £50m in revenue for its hosts as well as raising over £7m from investors. The “prop tech” industry is growing fast, and Scott (also COO) is the man in the know.
Freddie Garland – Founder of Freddie's Flowers
If you haven’t encountered nominative determinism before, Freddie is a blossoming example. The 30-year-old son of a florist got the idea for Freddie’s Flowers, his weekly flower subscription service, while working for Abel & Cole. Upon seeing the happiness their regular deliveries brought customers, he thought he’d do the same for flowers – because why should they only be for special occasions? From selling door-to-door when he first launched in 2015, to now employing over 50 staff and spreading joy to over 20,000 customers worldwide, Freddie Flower’s already looks set to make over £10m this year. You could say it’s blooming marvellous to have him on our panel…
Would you like to join us? Of course you would. Fill in the form below with your name, email address and Clubhouse membership number to register for the ballot. We hope to see you there!
